Upgrading the firmware on a Linksys wrt160n (v 3.0)
Combine this doco with wrt150n-v1.0 and rename as Linksys
i 160n v3 instructions are at dd-wrt WRT160Nv3
ii download dd-wrt.v24-13575_NEWD-2_K2.6_mini_wrt160nv3.bin for the initial flash
iii do a 30/30/30 reset
iv. nagivate to 192.168.1.1 (which will now display the linksys management console). Select firmware downloaded in #2 and then press "upload"
v. wait for the power light and wireless light to be constant illuminatation
vi. power cycle (unplug for 30s), then 30/30/30
vii. navigate to 192.168.1.1 and then press 'reboot'
viii. if changing settings result in a white page (and the settings are not being persisted) then clear the browser cache, quit the browser, then start up and try again
ix. can now upgrade but must be to a newd2 k26 build. Can use any tailored build with WRT160Nv3 in the name
The journaling flash filesystem (mounted to /jffs) permits write through to part of the flash storage. Be sure to have low volume write file on /jffs (i.e., not logs) as excessive writes will wear out the flash device.
see dd-wrt JFFS
running a samba/cifs client from the dd-wrt firmware is possible.
see dd-wrt CIFS
